“Al Frankening” Cuomo
After NY Rep. Kathleen Rice (R) called on Gov. Andrew Cuomo to resign — via Twitter — she received this response…
Besides turning the spotlight on Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan (R), who’s being investigated for not reporting $3 million in campaign funds, the tweet urged Rice not to “Al Franken” Cuomo…

Your Rundown for Wednesday, Mar. 17, 2021…
Apples to Oranges…
Recall former U.S. Sen. Al Franken (D-Minnesota) resigned in early 2018 after several women accused Franken of sexual misconduct. Perhaps the ickiest accusation came from a radio host who accused Franken of assaulting her, when she was sleeping, aboard a military plane after a USO tour. Gross…
This morning, we read the same refrain in an op-ed at The Washington Post: “Please, Democrats. Don’t turn Andrew Cuomo into another Al Franken.”
In other words, don’t be too quick to turn on your own… even though you want to appear to have the moral high ground. Let’s not lose political clout in the process.
Or… think of how much good Franken could have done? Think how Cuomo was THE pandemic czar New York needed!
But comparing Franken’s situation with Cuomo’s isn’t analogous.
As we said almost two weeks ago now, Cuomo’s sexual harassment scandal — sickening as it is — takes a backseat to the scope of the governor and his aides rewriting data about Covid-related nursing home deaths.
A disturbing allegation some politicians seem to be overlooking in favor of a “you can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs” approach.
Just so we’re clear, the lives of senior Americans — along with the safety and dignity of several young women — seem to be expendable when it comes to the greater good.
More reason to cast a clear-eyed gaze on politicians… We repeat: if you can’t trust them to do the right thing, how can you trust them not to break and scramble your nest egg?
We’ll have more Friday about new tax hikes…
